That's where Ipe Oil® and WiseCoat® finishes come in, providing a layer of protection that can keep your hardwood deck, siding, fence or furniture looking great for years.
Each of these products has an individual unique finish that creates distinctive wood grain patterns. For example, the hardness of woods varies widely, so does the color tone of any hardwood. The same species of hardwood boards can have many different color variations. You, as the homeowner, need to decide what outcome is desired depending on your hardwood species.

Ipe Oil® has been designed as an oil-based finish incorporating a brown semi-transparent tint to accent the natural wood grain of most hardwoods. As an oil-based product, the natural wood oils accept the finish evenly for a even coating. Ipe Oil® produces a silky satin finish that after drying, has a beautiful rich tone of light brown enhancing the all-natural hardwood grain.
WiseCoat®, on the other hand, has been developed with a semi-transparent amber tint. Because of its advanced water-based formula, this finish soaks in deep into the wood fibers – at the cellular level - producing a matte finish. The amber tint will not drastically change the natural wood color as it enhances and protects the wood.

NOTE: Semi-transparent tints are generally not as weather-resistant as solid stain treatments, although some semitransparent wood finishes go the distance better than others. Semi-transparent wood finishes let most of the wood grain show through, making them a good choice for costly hardwoods that you want to show off. But even the best, most expensive hardwood finish will need refinishing after a year or two.
